Back in 2011, Nintendo Published the Hyrule Historia, an encyclopedia of all things Legend of Zelda, including an official timeline, character notes and sketches, behind-the-scene notes, histories and facts… basically everything a Legend of Zelda fan would have up until that point killed to see for themselves. Fortunately, paying 35 bucks plus shipping for a hardcover copy was a lot more convenient than first-degree murder, and the Historia has easily been the best piece of Legend of Zelda since Molblin’s Magic Spear.
Well, it’s been four years, and a new contender is due: and not only do we have a Legend of Zelda book that Zelda fans can fawn over, but also something that one Localization nerd in your group could probably enjoy. Introducing Legends of Localization: a 208-full color hardcover that discusses the difference between Japanese and American Legend of Zelda and what was ‘lost in translation’.
This book comes to us from Clyde Mandelin, a professional localizer who has worked on projects such as Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball, who had an entire website devoted to this stuff he’s decided to turn into a book. It’s currently available for pre-order over at FanGamer, for the low, low price of 30 bucks, plus shipping--which ain’t bad for a hardcover book that looks this nice.
It’ll officially be out Mid-December, when it will ship.
