Over the last few years, Discord has grown to become one of the most popular text and voice chats in the gaming community. Leaning further into this, Discord Inc. has announced that the company will start selling games as well.

Partnered with THQ and Deep Silver currently, the communication hub will start distributing games in their own storefront. Additionally, their premium service, Turbo, will offer access to a preselected game library. This library will feature titles like Super Meat Boy, Saints Row: The Third, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Metro: Last Light Redux.

The Discord Store will allow users to browse and purchase digital copies of certain games. The press release states that the store will focus more on curating a specific selection, instead of striving for total inclusiveness. The first games to be included will be Dead Cells, Into the Breach and Frostpunk.

[We] rely on our community and our team to make the store feel super personal and focused on games that we genuinely think youll enjoy!

The company released a new Discord Library feature a few months ago, which allowed users to aggregate all of their games into a single location, including their games from Steam, Blizzard, and Epic game launchers. It's clear now that this was laying the groundwork for something greater.

The store will be launching in beta "soon," which will be distributed to select Nitro users. Discord Nitro costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 a year.

With Kongregate also looking to open their own game distribution service, dubbed Kartridge, Steam is going to have some competition in the future.
