DiRT Rally "Ninjas" onto Steam Early Access

A game for the fans, by the fans.

It has become apparent that Steam Early Access is no longer just for indie games. DiRT and GRID developer Codemasters has obtained mastery of the ninja by launching their newest DiRT title, DiRT Rally, onto Steam Early Access.

And at a decent price too. The game has launched earlier today at a discount of $31.49, or 10% off $34.99, which lasts until May 4th. The reason as to the Early Access launch?

The same reason many developers place their games onto Early Access: to generate enough feedback from the community in order to ensure a quality product for release.

In other words, the Codemasters explained that they wanted to "make sure we get this right."

"You've been asking us for a game that is pure rally with none of the fluff, one that has more stages, longer stages and repairs in between stages. You've told us how you want your own team, to be able to set the car up how you want and to feel like you own the car you're driving. We want to deliver that game."

"So, right now at the start of Early Access this is what you are getting for your money."

So far you will be able to doodle in the game with 17 cars, 36 tracks, asynchronous challenge events, team management and league support. Of course, there will be much more to the game, according to the developers.

And no, the additions won't cost extra. Codemasters will release more tracks, new game modes, and "features we haven't even thought of yet - features that you are going to think of and help us build."

This is definitely a developer that really desires support and feedback from its fans. All I can say is I am extremely excited to dive into this title.

Right now, Codemasters is only focusing on DiRT Rally for the PC, but if console gamers clamor enough, Codemasters will definitely consider the option.
