BulkyPix and Studio Nerial have produced a baby that has finally seen a release on Steam Early Access: Devouring Stars. Released April 2nd, the game is available for PC, Mac, and Linux for only $9.99.
The game itself is a bit unique in comparison to other RTS games - it's inspired by Dan Simmons' Illum, Eufloria, and Faster Than Light.
The central focuses of the game?
Exploration and Greek Gods.
Just like peanut butter and chocolate, am I right?
In Devouring Stars, players guide tribes of godlike entities hunted by 4 other clans. These entities wield the ability to devour starfields and convert the energy into dynamic protected nebulas or merge the starfields with units to create more advanced units. The set of entities changes with each game, so strategies will differ, offering more diverse gameplay.
Devouring Stars will only remain in Early Access for up to two months before release. The reason for Early Access is simple: the developers want to polish the game and vanquish any bugs before final release. Thus, the developers will be seeking feedback regarding the difficulty balancing as well as the enemy AI.
The Early Access version will feature the whole game from beginning to end. English and French languages are supported, but other languages will be available alongside the final release.
