Netflix issued a statement about the game, saying that they'll keep their eyes open for how to best continue work on the game. In response, Devolver Digital expressed interest in making it happen, with game studio NoCode in mind for development. This is the same team that created Stories Untold, a popular narrative game that also has a focus on a compelling story based on the 1980's.
The publisher then followed this up with an open offer to the previous Telltale staff to join their team.
"Wed love to have folks from #TelltaleJobs join in on this and continue their vision for what was planned."
Community reception of this idea has been overall a positive one. Devolver Digital has been establishing themselves as one of the best indie publishers on the market. With funds and passion behind them, they'd certainly be able to produce a game worthy of the Netflix series.
Netflix has yet to respond to the offer, stay tuned.
