The name Tomonobu Itagaki might not ring a bell to a lot of people... but he was the man responsible for creating the Dead or Alive series, as well as the modern Ninja Gaiden games. Itagaki has been out of the spotlight for the better part of a decade, after quitting his job at Tecmo on bad terms upon completion of Ninja Gaiden 2. He re-emerged from the shadows a couple years later, working at his own Valhalla Games Studio, partnering with THQ on a new bad-ass action game called Devil's Third for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Then THQ went belly up and Itagaki was left with a partially finished game that they would have to publish on their own. Many people assumed the game would just get canceled and the studio would close... but apparently at some point Nintendo stepped in to publish the game. Devil's Third is now a Wii U exclusive title... so uuuuuuuh... yeah?

The action looks a lot like Ninja Gaiden with guns, but some of the character design is pretty questionable. The main character in the trailer looks straight out of a white power prison gang to be honest. I seem to recall seeing the game years ago with a different playable character... so let's hope we aren't stuck with this guy for the entire game.
