Devil May Cry 5, Capcom's most recent action RPG, has shipped over two million units in only a couple of weeks, according to a report by Matthew Handrahan.
Having released on March 8, the demon-centric game has quickly gathered much acclaim and positive feedback. Gaining an aggregate score of 88 on OpenCritic, it's commonly praised for its satisfying combat, sense of style, and solid storytelling.
In Devil May Cry 5, a demon invasion has returned once again. This time, it's due to the seeds of a demon tree taking root in Red Grave City. The young demon hunter Nero, with the help of weapon specialist Nico, takes on a veritable army of monsters with powerful weapons in one hand and a mechanical Devil Breaker for an off-hand.
To be clear, units "shipped" means how many copies of the game were sold to retailers, and not how many were directly sold to consumers. This makes no difference to the publisher, and the actual sale numbers are difficult to track, so they report shipped units instead.
This has marked yet another banger to come out of Capcom over the last few years. Between Monster Hunter World and the Resident Evil franchise, the game company has been producing hit after hit. Let's not forget MegaMan 11 and the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Capcom really might be the best publisher of the last few years, when you think about it.
Now if they could revitalize Dead Rising as effectively.
