Deus Ex Releases "Breach" and "VR Experience" as Free Standalone Products

Both are VP compatible and highly suspicious.

While people generally liked Deus Ex: Mankind divided, there were a few snags. The fact that you could buy in-game powerups for the single-player mode and blast through the game in a hurry was criticized heavily by users, as well as the special mode called “Breach”, which was optional but really heavy on the Microtransactions, as well as kind of gimmicky. It’s well understood that both features were added because Square Enix demanded it, to milk money out of users, and now Square Enix is at it again… kind of.

See, “Breach” was always far and removed from the main game, so Square Enix decided the other day to release it separately, on steam and with VR support, absolutely free. So now, people can enjoy the most unremarkable part of the latest Deus Ex game without owning the base game first.

And you can do it in VR too, which is cool I guess!

In Breach, you basically infiltrate a random location, sneak past/destroy random guards to reach a data disk, then you escape. Pretty straightforward stuff.

But that’s not all! Another free VR game was released over steam, called “The VR Experience”. While it doesn’t offer any gameplay, it does let players explore Dubai, Golem City, Adam Jensen's apartment, and Talos Rucker's office in VR, as well as look at detailed 3D models from the game.

So… If you like walking simulators but hate all that story and plot, Square Enix has the thing for you! While I can see some use for this in giving VR some value to the people who spent upwards of a thousand bucks on the hardware, it’s still kind of… lackluster. Still, free stuff is free stuff, which is always good, so who am I to complain?

You can find Breach here, and the free “VR experience” here.
