Detroit Kid shoots and kills himself "Emulating" Video Games

Well, there are some sad stories of Gamer deaths and we've covered quite a few of them over the years unfortunately. Everything from League of Legends players biting it after a 9 hour gaming session, a World of Warcraft 24 hour death to the most extreme case of a 21 year old in Guaangxi, China dying after 40 straight hours of game play!

Then you have the even more bizarre stories of people turning violent such as a Chinese teen stabbing his father over a video game and a 16 year old League of Legends gamer attacking random strangers. Yeah, do we have a problem? It sure seems like it. It's hard to imagine what's going through their heads and how these things happen.  I personally think most of it has to do with the parents and them communicating with their kids on video games and stressing that they aren't real.  Although I was never exposed so young to gaming so it's hard to relate.

Now, we turn to Detroit and a truly sad story of a father that wasn't watching his 9 year old son, Daylen, who had been gaming.  Perhaps a game like GTAV since he took a shotgun and shot himself in the head with it from what it sounds like?! Or maybe it was Doom since there are shotguns within it?  Please excuse the references there.  Both games are pretty violent so they are linked to video game violence in general.  I mean, a 9 year old doing that is really hard to fathom and makes me cringe even thinking about it!

Meanwhile, we have Christopher Duran, the father who heard the gun shot and came running to find his son dead.

"Oh, my God. What did y'all do?" he screamed.

Prosecutors gave him a second-degree murder charge and sentenced Mr. Duran to the max 52 years in prison.  He thinks he doesn't deserve the sentence and seemed to be blaming video games on his sons death but maybe if he hadn't left a loaded shotgun next to his son then he wouldn't be spending the rest of his life in jail!

Truly a sad story all around and one hopes it will be a wake up call to other parents to LOCK UP YOUR GUNS!
