Sorry Peter Dinklage, looks like your monotone voice doesn't cut it for Ghost anymore. You are getting replaced!

Within Destiny's first expansion, The Taken King, there will be some drastic changes made to the dry sidekick as well as the equipment system, according to Game Informer's September issue of its magazine. But before we delve into the meaty tidbits, we should first refer to the level cap. First of all, the level cap of the first expansion will be raised to 40. Notice how the word "light" isn't attached to the level cap? That's because light will be dropped from the progression system. You'll simply hit level 40 with the basic experience system that has existed before level 20. With each level, you'll also unlock the ability to don new weapons and armor, which will contain perks. Additionally, Bungie will be redoing the loot system algorithm--in the past, RNJesus can and will decide to throw a bajillion Gjallarhorns at your head. However, in The Taken King, the loot will system will take into account your equipment, so you'll receive fewer duplicates.

Now here's another huge change: Peter Dinklage, the previous voice actor of Ghost, is vamoose. Instead, Nolan North, known to voice Drake of Uncharted, will take the helm. What's also interesting is that North will re-record Ghost's dialogue from Year 1. In other words, Dinklage will become a mere memory tossed in the wind. This is an understandable change, considering Dinklage's performance was less than stellar and, in essence, added to the bland experience of the story.

Finally, Year One weapons and armor will not be upgradable in order to convince players to adopt Year 2 weapons and armor. This makes sense, considering that Year 2 is a fresh start and should be treated as such in all aspects. However, the Year 1 gear will be enough to help players through the beginning of the expansion, but beyond the beginning, the Year 2 gear will be take over. In an interview with Game Informer, Luke Smith notes on the weapon changes:

"There are definitely some weapons that you are going to find better versions of --there's going to be something that replaces that sniper rifle that you love."

Destiny: The Taken King will release September 15, 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, there's still no announcement for the PC version. Perhaps it's no more...?
