We've known for a while that Destiny 2 will be coming to PC through a partnership with Blizzard and Bungie. This was a pretty unexpected partnership, and nobody really felt the need for it to be released on Steam as well as the Blizzard app. This is the first time Destiny will be playable on PC, so beggars can't be choosers in this scenario.
Up until recently, there was no speculation on whether Destiny 2 would be coming to Steam as well or not, but due to a rather strange error, people have been convinced that it will indeed make an appearance on Steam. For some reason, Destiny's microtransaction currency, Silver, became available for purchase on Steam's market. Players started to stockpile Silver, only to find out later on that it was an error, and Valve would be issuing full refunds to everyone.
Most people took this strange error as a hint that either Destiny or Destiny 2 will be coming to Steam at some point in the future, but Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague confirmed that their partnership is with Blizzard and Blizzard alone. What's your take on this situation? Could this be simply just an error or an accidental early release?
In other news, Bungie has just licensed some Destiny 2 merchandise, including scented candles.
