Destiny 2 Will Not Have Private Matches at Launch

We might get them later, maybe?

Destiny 2 will be bringing back Crucible, however private matches will not be around anymore. In an interview with Kotaku, they stated that private matches won't be available to players "at launch". While there won't be the option to create matches when the game is first released, that doesn't mean that the feature will be gone forever.

That is, however, all speculation. It has not been confirmed that private matches will ever come back, but I don't see why they would put an emphasis on launch day if there were no plans to ever implement it. With any luck, we will see their return at some point in the future.

There was also some talk about ranked play, but it was rather vague. They basically said that they're working on something that players can use to determine their standings, but it might not be the typical placement/season system.
