Destiny 2 Will Come Out 2017, Major Update in Spring

Destiny has been out for a while now, since 2014, and has enjoyed several expansions, a shake-up in the voice cast, evolving opinions of it’s actual playability, and at least one music video. Bungie’s latest Sci-Fi epic has quite the legacy already, but… all good things must come to an end, and Destiny is no exception. However, if you remember, Bungie had a ten year plan for this IP, and now that we’re two years in, it’s time for take the next step in that plan.

In a recent press release, Activision has affirmed two things: the first is that Destiny 2, the actual next step I referenced earlier, won’t be coming out till 2017. The second is to announce that, to tide hungry fans over, Destiny will be getting one final big expansion (of course) later this year.

...and that’s all we know. Any other information about this extra content and the sequel will have to wait till a future time.

However, in a follow-up blog post, Bungie did say that another free update would be coming along in Spring, which would raise the level cap.
 

“That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability. Beyond that, the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full Destiny sequel in 2017.”

So all you Destiny players better start saving up those pennies and dimes--there’s still a lot more in store for you!
