Looks like Descent: Underground has accomplished its goal. When I last wrote about Descent, the shooter raised $163,000 in Kickstarter support. However, as of April 10th, 2015, the sci-fi title has reached its goal with $604,948 pledged. Over 8,000 fans have backed this project, revealing a lot of interest and loyalty for the game.
In the past four days alone, backers pledged more than $200,000, or a third of the goal of $600,000. On the final campaign day, $70,000 in donations have rolled in.
With that said, we now get to look forward to the reboot of the Descent franchise. Descent: Underground is presumedly a prequel that will retain what the Descent is all about (including the six degrees of freedom perk). Unfortunately, Descendent Studios doesn't have access to all assets of the original Descent, but the developers accomodated for that with nifty changes.
Hey, the changes would give the game a fresh take.
What's really cool is that the game will support Oculus Rift integration. The game will be available hopefully in 2016 for Windows, OS X, and Linux. Sadly, there are no plans for a console release.
Descendent Studios is still soliciting donations for Descent: Underground additions, so if you still feel like donating, you can always donate on the main website.
