On eBay, so many things can go for much more than the anticipated value. For example, the misprinted version of Resident Evil: Revelations (Revelaitons) has sold a couple years ago for about $100, so it is no surprise that defects are possible cash cows.
Players have fallen in love with the Amiibo line, toys that act similar to the popular Skylanders products which are used to enhance their characters in compatible games like Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, Mario Kart 8, and more. Though most of these figures have been-well received, certain figures have been obsessed over and sold for a bit of change. The reason? Defects.
Defects seem to only apply to one certain figure - the Samus Aran Amiibo. Though extremely rare, the defective Samus Aran comes equipped with two arm cannons rather than just the one. Just recently, one lucky Best Buy customer, Adam Truesdale, sold his defective version, which originally cost only $12.99, on eBay for a grand total of $2500, almost 200 times more than the base price. A total of 19 bidders have taken part in the race to secure this rare collectible, tallying 75 bids. So the moral of the story is, "always scan your product for defects, because once you accidentally dissemble the packaging the product, it will be pretty worthless." Have you found a video game type of product that has a defect selling more than its original worth?
