Video games and politicians don’t exactly have the best relationship, considering the former has a terrible history of trying to censor the latter. Still, occasionally the two can set their differences aside and work together to spread a political message or a beautiful meme. For example: who could forget the time Barrack Obama was a playable character in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames? Or Bill Clinton was a player in NBA Jam 2? Probably a lot of people.
But politicians aren’t just unlockable skins or… let’s say “fun” Easter eggs: they can also use video games in their election bids, which is what brings us to, and I kid you not, Super Bernie World. Look at the trailer:
The game is… pretty much what it looks like. A straight-up Super Mario clone, but with a few notable swaps in the characters. Bernie Sanders is Mario, of course, Mitch McConnell is the Koopas, MAGA hats are the goombas, ICE agents are bullet bills, and Trump (and a money-slinging lobbyist) is Bowser. It’s a pretty straightforward comparison.
You can find the game on Steam, for free, or you can play it on your browser on itch.io if you want too. But I strongly suspect you don’t. Hell, I’m voting for the guy and I don’t.
