Kojima Production's Death Stranding is about to free itself from the binds of PlayStation 4 exclusivity. According to a recent announcement by 505 Games, the PC version of the game will be releasing on June 2, 2020, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. And with it comes a Half-Life crossover.
Developed under the development team founded by acclaimed game developer Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding told the story of a world where a strange event has taken over the planet. Spirits from the dead plague the surface, unnatural rain rapidly ages all it touches, and the concept of death has become something entirely new. The player controls Sam Porter Bridges, a porter tasked with making many deliveries between isolated communities in hopes of unifying a now divided nation.
It received substantial critical acclaim, with some controversy mixed in. Many folks praised the title for its unique take on gameplay and engaging narrative. Others found it lacked depth or felt it was repetitive.
Originally a PlayStation exclusive, Death Stranding will be releasing on PC on June 2, 2020, under the publication of 505 Games. An announcement trailer reveals that this game will introduce new features, such as higher framerates, ultra-widescreen capabilities, a photo mode, and most interestingly, a few cross-promotional items.
In the beginning, we catch a glimpse of a valve attached to the back of Sam's head, referencing the logo of Valve, the company that operates Steam. At the end of the video, we see Sam wearing a headcrab as a hat. The headcrab is a favored enemy from Valve's famous single-player FPS, Half-Life. It's not clear if these items will be available on the Epic Games Store version of the game.
You can pre-purchase the game on either Steam or the Epic Games Store for $60. Doing so will award the player a Chiral Gold and Omnireflector Silver variations of the Speed Skeleton, Armor Plates, Bridges Hat, and Sunglasses. You can learn more about Death Stranding via its official website.
