A couple of days ago, I tossed out a nod to Dear Esther, which has been considerably the most popular walking simulator, going so far as to become an actual stage play. However, at the time, I also made a quick reference to the Dear Esther: Landmark Edition, without delving any further into said edition. But today I will, considering the fact that the Landmark Edition has launched on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 today.

Brought to you by The Chinese Room, Dear Esther is a narrative adventure set on Hebridean island, featuring a loner who is searching for the cause of his wife's death.

The experience brought to gamers by the Landmark Edition has been enhanced, bearing fresh, new commentary brought to you by Jessica Curry, Rob Briscoe, and Dan Pinchbeck, trophies and achievements, and accessibility options.

Additionally, for those who plan on purchasing the Landmark Edition straight from the PlayStation 4, you'll be pleased to know that the title will come bundled with a dynamic theme.

According to The Chinese Room's Dan Pinchbeck on the launch of the Landmark Edition:

"Dear Esther has been with us for eight years now, but our passion remains undiminished - and we are as excited about it now as we were the first time. This Landmark Edition is the culmination of the work of an extraordinary team of individuals and we're excited to see how console players will respond."

Quite well, Mr. Pinchbeck. I'm sure console owners will respond quite well.

Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is now available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for a temporarily discounted price of $7.99/£6.39/7.99. Sometime after launch, it will be priced at $9.99/£7.99/9.99.

Oh, and no worries about being shafted in regards to the Landmark Edition's inclusion of the new features, dear PC fans. In a later update, those same features will arrive on the PC.
