Unfortunately, for some players, that's easier said than done: while the game does employ closed captioning for cutscenes and important dialogue when it comes to random NPC chatter, there's nothing to help our hearing-challenged Guardians stay in the loop. Fortunately, one recently went to Reddit to appeal to his fellows to try to get Bungie to lend him an ear, pun intended.
hello, DTG. I am tigersharkdude and am DEAF . I am asking if you all could help me start a petition to ask Bungie to caption the random NPC dialogue (think engram remarks from Rahool, Variks saying stuff to you in the Reef when you walk by, Shaxx telling you to 'show them no mercy', etc, etc. Before anyone asks, Yes, I do have subtitles on and no, half the dialogue has no subtiltes
Since then, the thread has blown up, getting 4700+ upvotes (and counting) and over 500 comments showing support for the cause. They even got in touch with Destiny's community manager, Cozmo, who said they would "consider adding to the future."

Ah well. Baby steps, people.
