The queen of crass, inappropriate video games is back at it again with a new game for Nintendo Switch and PS4: Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet.
Last weekend was the Dead or Alive Festival 2018, a special event in commemoration of the fighting game franchise. At the event, Producer Yokozaya Aya Yusuke and Director Yasunori Sakuda at Koei Tecmo Games announced another iteration on the Xtreme series, a "beach vacation" style spin-off that highlights many of the Dead or Alive characters in relaxing positions and scantily clad swimsuits.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet will release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on March 20, 2019.
The festival also revealed a number of announcements and updates regarding their current free-to-play Xtreme title, Dead or Alive: Venus Vacation. This includes things like customizable rooms, free amounts of virtual currency, and so on.
Scarlet takes place on "Watermelon Split," a tropical island set in an everlasting summer. It'll feature new characters, but the actual list of options are unconfirmed at this time.
The Dead or Alive Xtreme series has put under scrutiny in years past for its blatantly sexual depictions of characters in a video game, primarily in the United States. The controversy eventually led to their last major iteration, Dead or Alive 3, to not be localized in the country. The odds of this one making it State-side is fairly uncertain for the same reasons.
