Well, it’s true; they’re still around. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean they’re thriving, and it was just revealed that in the process of getting their business affairs straight, the company had to, unfortunately, let go of an unknown number of employees.
In a confirmation email, the gaming public got a few more details:
"Daybreak confirms we are realigning our workforce to better position our company for the future. Because of this, we have had to make an extremely difficult decision to part ways with some of our employees across various disciplines at the studio. We are doing everything we can to take care of each affected individual by providing them appropriate transition assistance. Daybreak remains focused on publishing and developing large-scale online games and will continue to service our existing and long-standing games and franchises."
As I said, the exact number of employees let go is unknown, but it couldn’t have been a small number, as we know for sure that at least one of them was former chief publishing officer Laura Naviaux Sturr, which means even the higher-ups are on the chopping block.
It looks like rough seas ahead for Daybreak. Here’s hoping the best for those who were laid off.
