Dataminers Discover Cosmetic Options in Star Wars Battlefront 2

I'm running out of pictures to use for these.

Can we just have one day where EA doesn’t wind up on the news? I’m not asking for my sake, of course, I love beating a dead horse: but I feel like EA could probably use a break. I mean, they’ve been digging their own grave for so long their arms must be killing them, right?

But enough preamble. If you recall, the other day EA CFO Blake Jorgensen used “canon” as an excuse for the pay-to-win star cards in Star Wars Battlefront 2, claiming that cosmetic items would have ‘broken canon,’ which is super important, apparently. It was a bad excuse on its own merits, and worse when you remember that there were plenty of fine and enjoyable cosmetics in Star Wars Battlefront 2015.

But this next bit is where it gets even worse. Cuz, you see, over on Reddit, there’s this fellow named TGKDR, and he recently posted a video showcasing… you guessed it… skins and customization options that they found in Battlefront 2! Wowza! It’s almost as if EA can’t get enough of the taste of their own foot.

Look, to EA’s “credit,” if you want to call it that, this stuff hasn’t been released in the game, and they’ve made no mention that it’s ever going to show up, either. But it still shows that EA had either once planned to make the loot boxes cosmetic and decided to go the pay-to-win route, or they planned on releasing both cosmetics and gameplay stuff in the same or different boxes, or… I don’t know. It’s messed up. It could still be coming or it could have been scrapped but either way it just looks painful at this point.

Just stop EA. Just… stop.
