The controller is no more.

Whether you're a newcomer to the Dark Souls franchise, or you're just a souls veteran, you most likely know that using a controller is a no-brainer. If you've used a mouse and keyboard for even 1 minute in any Dark Souls game, then you know how downright inconvenient and unnatural it is. Well, as usual, a modder has come to the rescue. DSfix is a mod that actually makes using a mouse plausible in the original Dark Souls. The first version of the mod definitely made the mouse and keyboard experience better, but it still had its issues.

Fast forward to present day, and modder Durante has released update 1.4 for DSfix, making the mouse and keyboard experience up to par with controllers. Finally, there is actually a choice when it comes to how you play Dark Souls. I mean, people have already been beating it with Guitar Hero controllers, bananas, and Donkey Kong drums, but I digress. Either way, it's definitely good news for the Dark Souls fanbase.

DarkSoulsMouseFix v1.4 changes:

New Binding System:
Have you ever wanted to switch your magic spell with Space+W+~+MouseWheelUp? Now you can! The old binding system has been replaced by an entirely new one. It allows the binding of arbitrary key and mouse button combinations. It works with almost any key on any keyboard, independent of the particular language or layout. See the Binding System section in the readme for details.

Manual Targeting Option:
It is now possible to enable the switching of targets by flicking the mouse. This can either be always enabled or specified by a hold or a toggle binding. The switching sensitivity can be adjusted by an additional setting. This does also work in Steam Controller input mode.

Non-Standard Bindings:
Added a set of non-standard bindings. It is now possible to bind Leap Attack, Kick, Dash Only, Roll Only and Auto Run actions to further enhance the customization of the controls. See the corresponding tooltips or the Non-Standard Bindings section in the readme for details.
