Dark Souls 3 is still a ways away over here in the states, but in Japan, it launches tomorrow--which strikes me as really unfair, because here we’d have a nice long four-day weekend to play it and get it out of our systems before the next work week. Not only does Japan not take Easter off, our release date, April 12th, is on a freakin’ Tuesday. A TUESDAY. I can’t think of a single worse day to launch a game. Even Monday would be better. Saints.
Anyway, new launch trailer. Look at it.
The first thing that grabs me is how it reuses the Dark Souls 1 intro cinematic, which creates a nice book-ending effect that makes me believe this will really try to wrap up the entire Dark Souls “story”, if you can say it has one.
The second thing that grabs me is HOLY CRAP THIS IS AMAZING.
I MEAN WOW.
...The third thing I notice is some peculiar links to Bloodborne, of all things. Transforming beasts, similar styles of clothes, a particular enemy that seems to have been specifically pulled from the Bloodborne games… and of course, a big emphasis on blood, especially the part with the floating streams of it.
Well, whatever the case may be, Japanese Fans will get their hands on this beauty before the rest of us, so we can just twiddle our thumbs and wait to figure out all the mysteries of this enticing final entry into the Souls franchise.
