Cyberpunk 2077 Might Release in 2019

It's speculation, but it's a start.

CD Projekt Red, high off the release of the Witcher 3, has moved on to creating its own, original world, Cyberpunk 2077. While the hype and excitement for this game is in a stable high (about the best you could hope for a game like this), information regarding the title has been, as is typically the case these days, very thin. We know that the game got funding from the Polish Government (of about the tune of 7 million bucks), that it will have seamless multiplayer, and that it will be an open-world experience with a living, breathing world, not unlike that which was found in The Witcher 3... except, you know, cyberpunk.

But while we're not likely to hear anything about the game for a good long while, we at least now have a rough idea of when it'll be released, thanks to Reddit. In a recent post, user boskee gathered some details posted by CD Projekt Red and posted them, which suggests that the game would be "finished" sometime around 2019, two long, long years from now.

Here's what was posted:

The most important part (of this release) seems to be the timeline for all 4 projects (that is seamless multiplayer, cinematic feel, animation excellence and city creation) - they will run from 01/2016 and 01/2017 until 06/2019. It's important to note, that the funded projects should be released by that date, but CDPR can apply to have those deadlines extended.

CD Projekt Red promised the Polish government that the invested 7 million would go towards those four enhancements to the game, and if they're planning on having them finished by may of 2019, then we can safely assume the game would be release in full either later that year, or early in 2020. A long wait, but a small team with big dreams needs a lot of time to work: and they've proven time and time again they're equal to the task.

So let's just have some patience and hope for the best, shall we? With luck, we'll all be around to see the masterpiece they create.
