Prior to E3, that's all we knew about the game was stated above. Now we have new cinematic trailers, gameplay, and a healthy dose of developer reveals. Unfortunately, one of the facts that remains a mystery is the release date. With the industry nearing the end phase of the current console generation, fans were concerned that Cyberpunk 2077 would be on next-gen consoles instead.
Quest designer Patrick Mills revealed to GameInformer that this will not be the case. When asked if the game won't be coming to current gen consoles, Mills had this to say.
"I've heard a number of people say that. The current console generation is what we're aiming for. We are aiming for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course PC as well."
This is certainly reassuring to gamers on a budget. New consoles are a touch expensive, after all. This doesn't mean the game won't be on next-gen consoles, either. Depending on the release date, we may very well see a cross-gen release. If games look good now, I can't imagine how good it'd look on a PS5 or Xbox Two.
