"Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We're aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do."
This is particularly noteworthy, as news had come out that the game had "gone gold", which is to say, was being printed on physical disks, which one suggested a sort of finality to the business. However, with day-1 patches being what they are, it's not unreasonable for CD Projekt Red to decide to postpone things even further to make sure everything runs well, even if it means you'll need to download a few gigabites of extra data to make sure your game runs on day one.
Regardless, the delay isn't as enormous as delays past, so while we'll probably get our hands on it soon, it's not impossible we might have to wait until early next year to do it.
Better than rushing it out, I guess.
