Cuphead Releases a Major Update

They're calling it a "Cupdate."

Cuphead's release a few months ago took over video game media, albeit not for very long. The game's classic animation style was almost unheard of in video games. Pair that with creative and challenging gameplay made for one stellar game. Not to mention the controversy behind whether or not game journalists have to be good at games or not (no comment).

Developers Studio MDHR released what they are calling a "Cupdate" to the game, implementing a number of changes to the game. These changes range from bug fixes to gameplay improvements.

Some notable changes are:
  • Fixed infinite controller rumble bug
  • Slight charge weapon damage reduction
  • King Dices Start Over square will now only trigger once per attempt
  • Player 2 now appears in the King Dice board after being revived at the end of a mini-boss level
  • Fixed Devils goat attack so it hits ducking players
  • No longer possible to damage bosses that are off-screen
  • Added spooky Mausoleum announcer
  • Touch fuzzy, get a little dizzy
A number of other changes to hitboxes and damage outputs will drastically change how speedruns of the game will work, fixing many exploits previously used to save time. Given the nature of the sport, I'm sure speedrunners will find new ways in the end.

Cuphead is available for Xbox One and PC for $19.99. You can read the complete list of changes at the official Patch Notes.
