The original benchmark is making a comeback. Introducing Crysis Remastered, a modernization of the classic sci-fi first-person shooter coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Announced by Crytek in a press release, the development studio is working with Saber Interactive to bring the original game into the future with improved graphics and optimizations for modern hardware. This includes higher quality textures, stronger particle effects, and a heaping collection of jaw-dropping post-processing effects to help bring the game up and above the HD expectations of gaming today.

We are excited to be working on the Crysis franchise again, and to bring all the Crysis fans a remaster worthy of their passion for the game. It's an exciting opportunity to be able to bring Crysis back to PCs and current consoles even Nintendo Switch so that a whole new generation of players can experience the thrill of a battle in the Nanosuit!

 - Crytek CEO Avni Yerli

In the original Crysis, the player controls U.S. Army Delta Force soldier Nomad as they fight against an ongoing war over advanced alien technology. To aid them, they're wearing the Nanosuit, a special battle armor that pushes speed, strength, and stealth to superhuman capabilities.

There used to be this joke in the gaming community about whether someone's PC could run Crysis. The game was one of the most hardware-intensive games on the market for a rather long time. This was mostly due to the (at the time) unbelievably high-quality graphics that computers of that generation could seldom handle to their fullest. Of course, eventually your average computer caught up. Nowadays, most PCs can run Crysis smoothly.

Because of all this, we can't help but wonder what the minimum PC specs will be for the remastered game. If it can run on the Switch, it can't be THAT heavy, right?

More information about Crysis Remastered, such as release date and price, will be revealed at some point in the near future. Stay tuned.
