Crytek has just released a new royalty-based model for CRYENGINE that will make developers jobs incredibly streamlined. This includes all of the editor source code in the CRYENGINE, as well as new ways to learn. Devs now have complete and unadulterated access to all of the CRYENGINE's capabilities.

Games using this new CRYENGINE V will be able to produce games faster and of higher quality for nothing until their game incurs $5,000 of revenue. There will also be an option to buyout the royalty side of this for games that don't want to pay out quite as much later on in their life cycle. Devs that are currently using CRYENGINE 5.0-5.4 will have the option to be royalty exempt but will not be able to use the editor source code if they choose to do so.

Along with this exciting news comes a couple new certification programs under the Crytek name. The certificates will represent three different disciplines in development. They include the Technical Artist Certification which shows a proficiency in digital visual arts, the Designer Certification which shows what it takes to be an expert at editing and the Programmer Certification to display a dev's ability to master the engine and the editor codebases. GZU is excited to see what kind of games come out using this new option.
