It seems that Crusader Kings II, the historical strategy PC hit from 2012, is still going strong as it steadily releases DLC and expansions, the most recent being titled Horse Lords. Yes, with horses and the tagline:

"Can you build a Pax Mongolica and dominate Eurasia, connecting East and West under your rule and creating a new era of prosperity? Or will you be the terrible sword that cuts down what others have built, crushing all in your path?"

The latest expansion is set for release on July 14, centering on the Mongol and Turkic invaders of the Central Asian plains. What will be included in the expansion is an expanded map, new ruling systems for nomadic tribes, the construction of temporary forts to hold areas, and the Silk Road, the famous trade network and cultural transmission routes between the Mediterranean and East Asia.

Here are the features to expect of Horse Lords:
  • Nomadic Rule: Distinct from the tribal governments already in game, nomads need lots of space and resist the trappings of settlement.
  • Clan Politics: Rule a clan within a nomadic tribe, split clans that get too large, fight for dominance, and proclaim feuds and blood oaths.
  • Muster Hordes: Raise vast armies of horsemen and archers, mobilizing your entire population to ride forth and conquer.
  • Silk Road: This rich trade network can bring great wealth to whomever controls the cities along the route -- but it's especially ripe for pillaging.
  • Larger Map: The Central Asian plains have been expanded.
  • Tributaries: New diplomatic relationship for nomad states forces defeated enemies to keep the Khan's coffers filled.
  • Forts: Build temporary fortifications to hold a province under your sway for just long enough for you to finish the war.

If you don't have Crusader Kings II, you can always head over to the Paradox Store and purchase your very own copy for a sale price of $9.99 (Original $39.99), or you can purchase the entire collection for $40.00 (Original $159.99). Horse Lords will be available on July 14, 2015.
