Rising again from derelict ships and dead bodies. They are the vanguard of honor, the cutting edge of the blood angels. They bring death. The Space Hulks return with Space Hulk: Tactics.
Space Hulk began as a board game in 1989. Set in the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, two players pit against each other on a huddled mass of asteroids, ships, and other space junk known as a space hulk. One player plays the role of the pace Marine Terminators, super soldiers sent to investigate the hulk. The other player acts as an antagonist, controlling the aggressive alien species that have made the hulk their home, known as the Tyranid Genestealers. The board game had a digital resurgence in 2013 with Space Hulk for PC, where it received a mostly positive response.
Game Workshop, alongside Blood Bowl creators Cyanide Studio, has announced a new Space Hulk game, due to release later this year. Players can partake in 2 different narrative campaigns. The first as a Blood Angels squad, customizing your team as you progress. The other places you in the position of the Genestealers, a first for the franchise.
To add more zest to this Space Marine salad, a card system has been implemented. These cards will enable game-changing effects and abilities.
What use is all this raw awesomeness alone, though? That's why Space Hulk: Tactics lets you play against other players in an online multiplayer mode. Here you can create your own custom squad from the Blood Angels, the Space Wolves, the Ultramarines, or the Dark Angels.
Creative minds will appreciate the new map creation tool, as well. This will allow players to create custom zones and objectives that they can share with others.
Space Hulk: Tactics is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.
