Prepare to bust boxes and harass the local wildlife. For the first time in over a decade, we have a new Crash Bandicoot game! Introducing Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time.

Announced on Monday during the Summer Games Event livestream, Activision released a new trailer, showcasing the first new game in the series since 2008.

In development by Toys for Bob, the fourth game will take place (fittingly) after the events of the original trilogy. Neo Cortex and Dr. N Tropy were abandoned on another planet. But Cortex has returned to enact his revenge.

With a new generation comes a new wave of graphic styles. The developers took this new game as an opportunity to try something new with Crash.

Toys for Bob is excited to introduce a fresh visual direction for Crash that maintains the zany spirit of the franchise while also breathing unique personality and charm into it. Fans can expect wacky new worlds, lush epic vistas and an absurd variety of enemies and hazards.

But this time, Crash isn't alone. Well, he's often not alone. Coco is once again a playable character in this game. But that's not what we're talking about! This time, Crash has the support of four quantum masks from across the universe. They augment Crash's usual selection of skills with newfound abilities, including time manipulation and anti-gravity.

The player won't be solely in control of the Bandicoot family, either. In Crash 4, there will be segments where they control Cortex himself, using his ray gun to solve a variety of environmental obstacles.

More information about the game will be released in due time. The game itself will be released pretty soon too. Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2020.
