With all the crap we recently gave GameStop for being slow to react and making poor excuses to keep their store open in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we did an enormous disservice to Games X Change, which is way, way, way worse. So buckle up for some bullcrap, boys and girls, because this is perhaps one of the most infuriating things I’ve written for this website.
If you didn’t know, Game X Change, who doesn’t deserve your business or money, is a lot like GameStop, The difference is, instead of eventually doing the responsible thing and closing their doors. Game X Change, at time of writing, is still forcing its employees to come to work every day. That would be irritating enough, but what escalated this into the realm of top-tier dickery is the fact that on top of refusing to close their stores, they sent out an email to their employees filled to the brim with ways to avoid getting infected with COVID-19.
All of them are wrong.
They recommend, among other things, taking a sip of warm water every 20 minutes, gurgling vinegar, using sunlight to disinfect the virus, avoiding cold food and drink, and to hold your breath every ten seconds to see if you can do that without coughing. Every single fact they propose has been debunked countless times by verifiable and trustworthy sources, and the fact they’re perpetuating misinformation on top of keeping their stores open isn’t even irresponsible, it’s dangerous. Games X Change is trying to get people killed.
Word is, Game X Change could be closing their stores soon, either because they came to their friggin’ senses or because they’re being forced to, but even if they closed an hour before this article goes live, we can’t forget this load of crap they just pulled.
GameStop, you ain’t off the hook, but if it makes you feel better, we just made a bigger hook to hang Game X Change and their owner, Grant Wetherill. Who should be arrested for attempted murder.
Because that's what this is.
