Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the premier e-sports in the gaming world, and thus, it has amassed a rather large following of diverse, interesting, and invested gamers. But part of what makes the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans so much MORE invested in those games than your standard e-sports fare is that gambling on matches and betting on teams is perhaps more common with this game than any other. The gambling community is huge, and because they have money and goodies on the line, they tend to get loud.

In an interview with HLTV.org, and reported by Kotaku (which is how I found it) Chad SPUNJ Burchill reported on how that passion and loudness tends to manifest in the E-Sports community. Heres a spoiler: exactly how you think it does.

Death threats. It seems the team and its players get quite a few in their line of work, especially when they lose and the people who had more than faith riding on them express their opinions over Twitter.

Now. I dont usually dwell much on e-Sports, even the League of Legends LCS, which is something I follow closely. But the reason I point this out is because its just so gratifying to see men in the gaming world get death threats for a change. Refreshing, I guess is a better word. A nice chance of pace. Granted, their sins are at least slightly more observable than were used to (You cost me 50 bucks! vs You werent born with a penis!) but all the same really nice. Especially since they clearly dont take the threats with any gravity whatsoever. Still, if thats how they react when their team loses, I wonder what kind of bonkers party they throw when they win?

Hm. Might need to look into becoming a fan
