Counter-Strike Co-Creator Officially Charged With Sexual Contact with a Minor

Last time we checked in with 36-year-old Counter-Strike co-creator Jess Cliffe, he was arrested (but not yet charged) for sexual exploitation of a minor. No other details of that case were made public, and we were left in quiet anticipation for what might become of these disturbing claims.

Well, just the other day, it was made public that he has officially been charged with crime of sexual exploitation of a minor, and he should be going to court soon to determine his guilt in the case. That said, things look pretty bad for him so far, from whats been released to the public.

Specifically, its alleged that Cliffe engaged in multiple instances of paid sexual contact with a sixteen-year-old girl, who he supposedly met online. Its also been alleged that he recorded one of these interactions with the girl against her expressed will. More details will likely come to light as companies respond to the warrants being issued by investigators, but how much of those details will be made public before the court case is still up in the air.

One final interesting point in the report was that police had actually approached Cliffe on January 31, two days before he himself was arrested, who cooperated with them by answering several questions and admitting he paid women (although he claimed she was 23 years old at the time) for sexual contact.

Again, this is a gaming website, and normally we dont get anything this heavy on our plates, so Im going to avoid going on too much of a tangent here. For what its worth, Valve hasnt commented on this more recent development, but I think its safe to say no matter how it turns out hes not likely to get his job back there.

Again, Im just hoping justice is done.
