Confirmed--2015 is the year of the visual novel. Yesterday, we announced that the visual novel Norn9: Var Commons will release this fall. Other visual novels are soon making their way onto the Vita, and it just so happens that, today, another release date for a well-known visual novel series has been announced. Recall Corpse Party? The XSEED Games' gruesome, frightening Japanese horror VN featuring a haunted elementary school?
Well, Corpse Party: Blood Drive, the final installment of the story of Heavenly Host Elementary (Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows), will launch this fall in North America exclusively for the PlayStation Vita.
Haunted Heavenly Host Elementary has been recreated and greatly expanded in glorious 3D, and to coincide with the changes, new gameplay systems, such as the stamina system, and more interactions between characters will be added. A notable return is the "Darkening" system, similar to the sanity meter, which occurs upon inspecting corpses, examining certain objects, or interacting during events.
Blood Drive will feature the original Japanese voiceovers for authenticity reasons. The horror title will also contain bonus unlockables such as voice actor interviews, art, music, and more. In total, there will be 11 "huge" story chapters, and 8 supplemental "Extra Chapters," which will conclude the mysteries behind the school. Fortunately, it appears that the story will delve a lot farther into the Book of Shadows.
There will be two editions of Blood Drive: the limited physical "Everafter Edition" (probably will at least contain the soundtrack) and the digital edition. According to the XSEED site, "the title has not yet been rated by the ESRB."
But we all know the game will be rated E for gore, etc.
Is today opposite day?
Unfortunately, the game is not up for pre-order... yet.
