Why jump to that conclusion though? When the idea was proposed in a NEOGAF forum about the game's microtransactions, a comment was left by the staff member of The Sixth Axis that wrote the review.
After review went live I've had no direct contact with 2K, instead their PR is chatting with my editor. All I know is that 2K are to issue a statement of some sort regarding issues raised in the review.

So according to them, 2K Games IS talking to them about their score. This may have prompted the removal, but if you look now you'd see that the original 3/10 score is back up. Why is that?
About an hour before this post, The Sixth Axis posted a statement about this entire situation. They state that they were under no pressure by 2K Games to remove the score. Instead of that, they expected a statement from 2K Games themselves regarding the digital currency issue, and that their statement may have an impact on their score. 2K Games failed to give a statement, so The Sixth Axis decided to restore the original score.
A fair bit of controversy, that led to literally no change.
