Not that long ago, a company called SUP3R5 opened up pre-orders for all black PS5 consoles. Costing $650 and $750 for the disc-free and disc versions respectively, these pre-orders sold out in mere minutes. It sold out so fast, in fact, that many orders failed to process and the international release was delayed.
The company announced, via their now deleted Twitter account, that their staff was receiving credible threats to their safety. In response, they cancelled the project entirely, waiting until it's safe to try again.
We take these threats seriously, and as a result, we're not proceeding forward. All orders are being cancelled with full refunds.
. . .
We intended this to be a fun way to celebrate a shared nostalgia. As it turns out, there are people out there who are willing to interfere with that. If we determine that it's safe to try again, we will. For now, please stay safe.
Acquiring a PS5 has not been easy for consumers, custom-made or otherwise. While we can understand the frustration of not being able to get one, harassing staff online is never acceptable. Cmon yall, act like adults.
