Another day, another cat-related game, but we humans can't get enough, can we? Well, if you're in the mood of a casual game with complex mechanics, and if you love cats to the point that you'd bear-hug them (hopefully without devastating repercussions), then feel free to check out the RPG Puzzle Adventure Combat Cats, releasing later today on Steam.

But what is Combat Cats, exactly?

Well, Combat Cats is a retro-styled tile-matching game that adds unique combat mechanics and integrates RPG and adventure elements. The story goes as thus: A perfect paradise called Kitty Island is in shambles, having lost all catnip to thieves. You are part of the Kitty Island Homeland Security's veteran Ace Fighter Pilots (say that five times fast, geez), and you must return the shambled island to its original state, battling enemies to succeed.

Gameplay-wise, Combat Cats offers a variety of offensive and defensive actions that can be activated upon a match (think Puzzles and Dragons if you have played that). You will have access to a variety of weapons like rockets, bullets, as well as defensive abilities like repairs. Longer match combinations will also unlock powerful nukes that will shatter rows, columns and chunks of blocks. So let the mayhem begin!

Here are the Key Features of Combat Cats:
  • Match bricks in any pattern you want.
  • Earn extra points and do more damage for bigger combos.
  • Fire off nuclear weapons!
  • Pop pesky water bubbles that block your game board.
  • Upgrade stats, weapons, and aircraft!
  • Unlock achievements!
Combat Cats will be available later today on Steam for $2.99. This begs the question, however, "Where are all the dog games?" Nevertheless, with the retro aesthetic, and "adorable" gameplay, Combat Cats definitely seems to be a game worth a try.
