Well, if you happen to have fond memories of the Myst series, or you’re an aforementioned casual who sort of wandered here on accident, I have good news for both of you: Cyan, the studio behind it, has just announced that to celebrate the game’s upcoming 25th anniversary, they’re going to released an “updated” version of the five classic games for Windows 10 sometime in the near future.
"We managed to finally talk to all the right people and departments and put some funding together to try to make it happen. With agreements in place, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be releasing updated (for Windows 10) versions of all the Myst games later this year,"
What does “updated” mean? We’re not sure. Presumably it means they’ll be boosting the graphics, but they did that already with the Masterpiece editions so hopefully there’ll be a bit more to it than just that. A proper release date is also unknown, although the first Myst was released in September so that would be a safe guess to make.
I would never claim to be a fan of the series myself, given that I've never played them, but considering I like the obscure lore of Dark Souls and the puzzle-solving of Professor Layton, I would probably really enjoy them. This might be my shot to do just that.
