After fans requested a slew of patches from the release of the ever popular CHRONO TRIGGER on Steam, Square Enix has pulled through with some of the fans most requested changes. Below is a list of some of the major patches that were released today on Steam, most of which give the game the more nostalgic feel that fans missed when it was released a couple months ago:
  • Original Graphics: This new option will be able to be toggled on or off to go between the original graphics of the game or the new high-resolution graphics that came with the game on release.
  • Updated Font and Dialogue Boxes: Much like the above change this will give the game more of the classic CHRONOTRIGGER feel.
  • Start-Up Changes: They have reworked the animation sequences when starting a new game so that it is more in line with how the game intro was originally.
More patches are planned to be released in the future including updates to the UI for gamepads and mouse and keyboard as well as increased resolution for cut-scenes. Along with these changes the Limited Edition of the Steam release will be available for an extended period of time, details on that can be found in a previous GZU article. This extension will be available until April 30 on Steam.
