This doesn't look bad at all.

So tactical card games seem to be making a comeback when it comes to popularity. What I mean is that there is yet another card game brewing behind the scenes, and it's called Chronicle: Runescape Legends.

Yup, based off the MMORPG that has been existent for over a decade now. Jagex Games Studio announced that the strategy card game will enter open beta exclusively for the PC on Wednesday, March 23.

So far, there has been a closed beta test, which lasted a full 10-weeks. Over 700,000 games were played, meaning that 7.5 million minutes were spent. Furthermore, players created over 185,000 customized decks during that period.

According to Mark Killey, Senior Producer of the upcoming title:

"If the thoroughly successful closed beta formed Chronicle's prologue, the arrival of its open beta phase on March 23 marks the beginning of chapter one. We're introducing a host of new additions, including new Legends, the new Dungeoneering mode, skilling, customization and fresh environments to quest through.

Our community has been vocal in praising Chronicle's evolutionary gameplay mechanics - it's the only CCG that offers a huge sense of adventure as each game plays out. By playing four cards at once, the rules are very different, which means so are the strategies, deck management and the play-by-play game experience."

So what will you look forward to in the open beta? Well, there will be deeper gameplay, new modes, progression, customization, and Legends cards. Here, let me break it down for you:

Additional Legends:

There will be two new playable Legends. The fifth playable character--Venescula the Vampyre--will be bringing over 30 new cards to the table and a new playstyle. The sixth character will be Morvan, the greatest Slayer Master.

Dungeoneering:

A brand new mode which pits players with the task of creating a drafted deck and battling to the top in PvP challenges. You'll earn rewards like Coins, Gem Shards, and Platinum.

Skilling:

What's Runescape without Skilling? This applies to Chronicle as well. Every action performed in Chronicle will grant experience towards a certain skills, which draws out the full customizable experience.

Legend Customization:

Chronicle's Legends will be able to equip a variety of skins, which are unlocked through leveling up or unlocking them in the Chronicle Store (which I'm assuming will involve real money).

Leaderboards:

Leaderboards are here, enticing players to reach the top for ultimate bragging rights.

New Environments - The Wilderness Crater and Barrows:

Yup, two new places are going to be in the open beta, of which you can register for by heading to the official site. With an intensive quest narrative and innovative gameplay, Chronicle seems as if it will be able to find its own place in the CCG world.
