Chinese News says 80% of its Violent Prisoners were Gamers

According to the online gaming magazine The Escapist, the official state-run news channel aired a program making this rather wild claim;

The title of the CCTV (channel available stateside on DISHTV and other satellite providers) program is "Confession of a Murderer - Focus on Pornography and Violence in Online Games (Part Two)". This was first report on Yahoo News. It would also be relevant to note that in recent months the Chinese government has announced steps to forbid the foreign ownership of online games played in their country, according to site Gamasutra

We had posted an earlier news article on the subject of China cracking down on online games, most specifically World of Warcraft. China loves pulling figures out of their a** so it's really difficult to believe anything coming out of there. This is more about censorship and an attempt to mold their society and youth into some specific vision.
