China has officially banned Battlefield 4 and all of its downloadable content due to "national security" reasons, and the game title is now censored on China's most popular social network, Weibo. This all happened directly after the release of the "China Rising" expansion, as they feel it "smears China's image."

China and Russia are often depicted as the bad guys in video games and movies, so it's not hard to understand why they would be upset. If there was a video game made in China where Americans were painted as the villains, we would probably be upset too. However, it is extremely unlikely that we would ever ban a video game - it would probably go unnoticed as media outlets would likely ignore it.

EA probably wasn't expecting to have many Battlefield 4 fans in China and we are still waiting to hear what they have to say about the ban.

Below is the official video trailer for the Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion, do you think this game smears China's image? Did you, or do you look at China differently because of video games like Battlefield 4 that make them the villains? Or.. do you now look at China differently for banning a video game that was intended to sell in their country anyways?
