Charge Mechanic Put On The Sidelines In New Hearthstone Expansion

And no one is complaining.

Boomsday is right around the corner and some of the cards for the new expansion have already been revealed. With the announce trailer a new mechanic called "Magnetic" was introduced to combo with the mech themed expansion but some have noticed something missing from the new set, the Charge mechanic is no where to be seen so far. A new mechanic called Rush that was introduced in Witchwood might be taking the permanent spot instead.

The Charge mechanic is something that Team 5 has always struggled with getting just right. It allows players to play a card and immediately attack the opponents face instead of having to wait a turn, this enabled some one-turn kills and some bad feelings on the receiving end. Rush on the other hand only lets you attack enemy minions on the turn the card was played and is much more fun to work into a deck. Lead designer Mike Donais even stated that they are trying to move away from Rush because it is much more of an entertaining mechanic for players and doesn't create as much of a sad feeling when you are playing against it.

Don't be too scared though, no talk of removing the current cards containing Charge has taken place. So keep using your Leeroy Jenkins and King Crush to tilt anyone who crosses your path, just don't expect anymore coming in this expansion.
