Certain Best Buy Copies of Starlink: Battle for Atlas Came Without the Game

With suspicious packaging.

The anticipated space shooter Starlink: Battle for Atlas released earlier this week. While most folks are fine and happy with their purchase, a number of Best Buy customers are reporting that their game box didn't actually include the game.

Comments and reviews left on the Best Buy listing for the game, as well as various remarks on Reddit and Twitter, reveal an interesting phenomenon. Sometimes when users purchased the game, primarily the starter set (the one that comes with physical toys of Star Foxs Fox McCloud and his Arwing and the included hardware) from Best Buy, the actual game is missing. Those affected by this also noted that the tamper-proof packaging is absent from the box.

To those who got the physical package: did your box have some kind of tape on the outside you had to remove before opening it? My starter pack just came in the mail from Best Buy and there was no wrapping or tape or anything on the outside of the box. The reason I ask is because I just opened it up to find my starter pack contains everything except for the game itself, so I'm thinking maybe someone opened it up ahead of time and stole the game. - ResetEra User

I can't believe it, but I was sent Starlink without the game too. The packaging is cut up with a razor blade and the case mustve been forcibly removed through the plastic, something review copies noted with the game not coming with the starter kit. - Reddit User

Ubisoft has reached out to state that they are, in fact, aware of the situation and they're looking into it at this time. They have requested that anyone affected by this issue should contact Ubisoft Customer Service.

This reminds me of the time a Battlefield 1 Collector's Edition cost $130, but didn't actually include the game. At least that was intentional.
