CD Projekt Red to Release Big Witcher 3 Patch

The joke is that it's mostly bug fixes.

With the release of Blood and Wine, CD Projekt Red was making it abundantly clear that they were done with The Witcher 3. No more paid DLC, no more free DLC, no sequels: they're washing their hands of Geralt and his adventures and giving full custody of him back to Andrzej Sapkowski, the guy who technically invented the series but is also kind of a jerk. Now, they can focus on telling their own story: namely, the mysterious Cyberpunk 2077.

Well, as it turns out, we may have spoken a bit too soon on that regard. Because while CD Projekt Red is certainly done making NEW content for The Witcher 3, that doesn't mean the game is finished, or that it's bug-free... and until we reach that point, CD Projekt Red isn't going to forget The Witcher 3 entirely. In fact, according to a tweet, they're currently working on a major patch now to fix some of the latest bugs that have cropped up in the game. While they weren't specific, they did specify that the camera not locking onto enemies will be remedied.

Gotta say, this is pretty nice to hear. CD Projekt Red have firmly earned the title of "coolest folks in game development" thanks to their pro-customer stance and all-around awesome behavior, and this just cements their title. It would be so easy to just let some of these bugs be, and yet, they want to make The Witcher 3 as good as it can possibly be before they move on. It probably won't contain much else in the way of content, but hey--you can always keep your fingers crossed for one last surprise.

Regardless, good for you, CD Projekt Red. Kudos. Many kudos. I only wish other game developers would learn from your example.
