Though it has been expected, the open-world role-playing game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to be incredibly straining on the PC. Even my current build will not be able to handle the recommended specs due to the lack of RAM I have.
CD Projekt RED has officially announced the minimum and recommended specifications, and the specs are not pretty.
Minimum:
- Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940
- GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870
- 6 GB of RAM
- Operating System: 64-bit Win 7/Win 8 (8.1)
- DirectX 11
- 40 GB of Hard Drive Space
Recommended:
- Intel i7 3770 3.4GHz or AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
- GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon R9 290
- 8 GB of RAM
- Operating System: 64-bit Win 7/Win 8 (8.1)
- DirectX 11
- 40 GB of Hard Drive Space
So according to this painful-to-look-at list, the game looks to be incredibly massive and intense in both playability and graphics. Many people will probably need to upgrade their PC to get the most of the robust game, but since this game has been delayed twice now for polishing reasons, upgrading should be well-rewarding. Personally, if I want a chance to play this on recommended settings, I will have to probably buy another 4 GB of RAM. If you plan on upgrading to play this game, here is a good price and comparison guide here. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, complete with 16 free DLC packs, is expected to be released on May 19th, 2015.
