With the recent Resident Evil 2 remake fresh on everyone's mind, fans have been wondering what Capcom has planned next for the franchise. One of the most common questions is whether they will also remake Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. But according to them, it depends on us.
Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi recently spoke with Japanese game publication Game Watch on the topic. He said that Capcom decided to remake RE2 was because of its 20th anniversary. He continued to explain that if we the players want to see the same treatment for the third game, we need to express that. Capcom is watching how well the recent remake is received and listening for consumer feedback and interest.
So if you want an RE3 remake, it's a perfectly possible idea.
The publisher/developer has yet to make any official statement as to what their plans are next for the Resident Evil line of games, leaving everyone to speculate. Some believe that a new iteration is next, while others are hoping for a Code Veronica remake.
Personally, I'm wondering how long it will be before the ever famous Resident Evil 4 is given the same treatment. Given the lengthy time of a triple-A title, such an idea would happen until next gen consoles. Heck, I'd play it with unchanged graphics, just improve those controls.
Resident Evil 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
